Wildly entertaining and full of energy, T2 Trainspotting has the ability to take us back to 1996. Although I was just a wee bit lad back then, I grew up watching the film and developed a great love for it during my middle school years. In the eight grade, my love for the film grew when I came across Irvine Welsh's Novel in which the film was based on at a Border's "Everything Must Go" sale. So when it was announced that Sick Boy, Rent Boy, and Spud were coming back, to say I was ecstatic was an understatement. I was, reasonably, skeptical because how can Boyle follow up one of his most acclaimed films, my favorite, even above The Beach, but still excited. Just like the original, Boyle packed the picture with substantial amounts of dutch angles. Flashes from the original film happen throughout the movie, giving us this enormous nostalgic feeling we can barely endure. Does it have to do with us feeling like we're getting older? Just a couple of years ago these characters were young and running down the streets of Edinburgh after scoring their "one last hit" and after the blink of an eye 20 years have gone by. The film does a great job at bringing out emotions in its viewers, and conclusively, that's what great, pure cinema is all about.
